Rape Aggression Defense System (R.A.D. for Women)

The Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) System is a program offered to female students and employees at Virginia Tech.

The four-part course begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, and progresses to the basics of hands-on defense training. Participants learn self-defense tactics and techniques.

The free course is taught by Virginia Tech Police Department officers and is offered several times a year.

Upcoming Sessions

VTPD will host two RAD classes in Spring 2020:
  • Sundays 5-8 p.m., Jan. 26, Feb. 2, 9, 16-- NOW FULL
  • Tuesdays 5-8 p.m., April 7, 14, 21, 28 at the VT Corporate Research Center

VTPD will host Faculty Staff RAD in Summer 2020 on Thursdays May 21, May 28, June 4, and June 11 from 2-5pm. Location is TBD.
