The Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) System is a program offered to female students and employees at Virginia Tech.
The four-part course begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, and progresses to the basics of hands-on defense training. Participants learn self-defense tactics and techniques.
The free course is taught by Virginia Tech Police Department officers and is offered several times a year.
Fall 2016: The fall 2016 session is full.
Spring 2017: Two sessions will be offered in spring 2017.
- Session I (Meets Feb. 2, 9, 16, and 23)
- Session II (Meets Feb. 28 and March 14, 21, and 28).
Classes meet from 6-9 p.m. in the Residence Life Community Resource Officer space, on the first floor of Dietrick Hall. There is an exterior entrance on the east side of the building.
