Community Events
The Virginia Tech Police Department is a strong advocate of community policing and engages the community in various ways throughout the year, including but not limited to:
Community Day is an exciting tradition of collaboration between Virginia Tech Police Department, local law enforcement agencies and first responders, and colleagues from across the Hokie Nation. This family friendly event has plenty of activities and demonstrations for people of all ages. Learn more about Community Day here.
The Virginia Tech Police Department and several local agencies frequently collaborate with Special Olympics Virginia throughout the year. Every spring, VTPD hosts a hot dog luncheon that raises money for Special Olympics Virginia, such as the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
Whether during Orientation, Move In, or Residence Hall meetings or various weeks throughout the academic year, our officers are always engaging the community through different tabling and door to door programs. To learn more about some of these activities, visit the Residence Life Resource Officers (RLROs) page.
The Virginia Tech community has such a vast array of fantastic campus activities and events-- don't be surprised if you see us there! Reading with the children at the Child Development Center? So fun. Gobblernights? See ya there. Donut eating competition at Gobblerfest? Count us in!
Looking for something fun to do on campus? Check out GobblerConnect or connect with someone in Student Engagement and Campus Life!
Held sporadically throughout the year, Buffet with the Blue provides community members an opportunity to casually chat with officers over a meal. Join officers in Virginia Tech's dining halls to chat, ask questions, share what is on your mind and get to know the men and women in our department.
